Chief Financial Officer

A Jacmel Based company is seeking applicants for a Chief Financial Officer. The Chief Financial Officer will report directly to the Country Director and will manage accounting and payroll for the group of enterprises. Responsibilities include accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial planning, audits, budget preparation, long-term forecasting, and payroll functions. This position will also develop and implement HR strategies and coordinate HR issues with the Country Director, Legal Counsel, and Steering committee

Minimum of five years’ experience in finance or related field; and a University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field, or any combination of education, training, and work experience which provides the required skills to perform the essential functions of the job. Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting practices are required. Must be a licensed accountant. The Chief Financial Officer must possess strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills as well as the ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet deadlines, and are a team player. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English required.

Salary for the position is dependent on qualifications and will range be a USD monthly salary.

Summary: Reports directly to the Country Director. The Chief Financial Officer serves as a member of the management team with specific responsibility to manage the companies financial activities and assist Country Director with a variety of financial management matters, performs administrative work in planning, organizing, coordinating and directing activities of the finances for the companies, as well as coordinating Human Resources for a group of companies owned by the primary company.

Supervision Exercised: Supervises Accounting and HR support positions in the execution of day-to-day responsibilities as assigned by the Country Director.

Education/Work Experience:
Minimum required:

Graduate of accredited college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, business or a closely related field; and

Five years of progressive responsibility in accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three years off progressive responsibility in human resource and staffing

Licensed accountant is required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Jacmel residence preferred, but not required.
Experience in working in a rapidly growing enterprise environment.
Knowledge of financial planning, administration, and fund accounting.
Knowledge of general laws, policies, and procedures of relevant government regulation
Knowledge of standard office equipment and accounting software.

Ability to formulate and implement standard accounting methods, system procedures, forms, financial reports, and records.

Knowledge of GASB requirements and GAAP statements.

Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships within the company
A high degree of integrity and good professional judgment.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
General knowledge of Haitian labor law and HR best practices.

Attendance:

Office hours are typically 8:00 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. Holiday, personal, and sick days are as instructed in company Personnel Policy Manual.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: other duties may be assigned.

Manage all facets of the companies accounting and finance management system consistent with company guidelines, generally accepted governmental accounting, and financial reporting principles in accordance with the Haiti Tax code

Review, analyze, recommend improvements, and assist with the accounting and payroll practices and implementation of operational changes to improve accuracy, efficiency, internal control, timeliness, and customer relations
Ensure that proper internal control procedures are followed in all accounting activities

Prepare general purpose financial reports according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); coordinate all required audits

Prepare the annual tax budget and long-range forecast.

Coordinate with company general managers to ensure department budgets are adhered to and capital improvement plans are updated annually
Responsibility to assure reporting of operating results and operating information as needed by management and investors for the efficient management of the business.

Prepare, amend and submit the annual appropriations, tax budget, and

estimated resources consistent with appropriate budgetary practices and Haiti Tax Code

Assist companies with contract purchases and renewals and maintain an original copy of all contract documents

Perform and coordinate special projects as assigned

Review and analyze the financial impact of employee benefits in coordination with the Country Director

Complete financial and budgetary information, revenue/expense forecasts, and ad hoc reports for the Steering committee and execute leadership meeting

Provide necessary financial data as required for grants and monitor the receipt of funding and expenses

Maintain required continuing education and certifications
Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall country policies

Coordinate HR issues with an advisory group
Perform all other related duties as assigned by the country director
